Story |
|
Harvard-educated writer Pierre Delacroix (Damon Wayans), the only black employee on the staff of a struggling tv network, suggests the most absurd idea for a pilot that he can possibly imagine, hoping it will convince his tyrranical box to terminate his contract and fire him. However, his plan backfires and his idea--"Mantan The New Millenium Minstrel Show," a stereotyping and racially charged depiction of Manray (Savion Glover) and Womack (Tommy Davidson), a pair of lazy, homeless black men--airs with great success. BAMBOOZLED, from director Spike Lee, is a sharp and searing comedy and social commentary on the Minstrels of the 1800s and the state of the present-day Hollywood system. |
