Driven

A Film Review by Paul Perkins

****

Race Out And See This Movie

.

There is one sport where it takes speed to win and you must be good behind the wheel. It’s called Indy cart racing and it’s a dangerous, Exhilarating sport. Driven center on that world and the lives of four drivers who is chasing the ultimate adrenalin rush.

There is a young talented rookie driver Jimmy Bly (Kip Pasrdue) who is unfocused and is slipping in ranking. Because of pressure from his promoter brother (Robert Sean Leonard), Next there is Beau Brandenburg (Til Schweigfer) who is the top racer at the circuits.

Everything is riding on Bly, seasoned car owner Carl Henry (Burt Reynolds) hires a former racing star Joe Tanto (Sylvester Stallone) all that while dealing with a reporter (Stacy Edwards) who is covering the race. A Ex-wife Cathy (Gina Gershon) who since married to rival driver Memo Moreno (.Christian De La Fuente). Caught between success, failure, regret and the need for speed. The four competitions are driven to put the pedal to the metal in pursuit of redemption and glory.

When I was young I use to go to a place near my house that had Indy carts that you could drive. The place is no longer there but I wish it were still there because after seeing this movie I want to drive some. This was a very high octane film let me tell you what I like and dislike.

Good

  1. The story was very good. It a type of film even if you don’t like the sport. You will like it after seeing the film.
  2. The cast was good. Esp. Sylvester Stallone who last film was so boring and long. He needed a hit and Driven is it. Kip Pardue did a great job of playing the rookie driver. Every sport movie needs hot girls in it and Driven has them. There is Estella Warren, Stacy Edwards and Gina Gershon who all was very good in the film.
  3. The racing screens were outstanding. It took you right into the driver seat and you felt what the driver felt.
  4. The crash screens were also outstanding. They also took your breath away when they happen.
  5. The film did not drag at all.
  6. The ending of the film was good.
  7. The music was good.
  8. The locations of all the racing screens were good. They went all over the world.

 Bad

  1. The trailer does give a way a little bit too much. There is more to see trust me. But I don’t like too seeing too much in the trailer.

Overall Driven was one High Octane thrill ride. Where you feel like you are in the action and you will get the ride of your life. This is one film not to miss.
