What
makes a Film great, a great story, gorgeous scenery, over whelming cast and to a
lot of action moviegoer’s carnage? Well this film has it all it is called
Gladiator and it one of hell of a Roman epic It
has been four decades since chariots raced and swords flashed across movie
screens in epic dramas of a time long past. Now, director Ridley Scott brings
the glorious battles of the ancient Roman arena back to the big screen in a
sweeping story of courage and revenge.
The
great Roman General Maximus (Russell Crowe) has once again led the legions to
victory on the battlefield. The war won, Maximus dreams of home, wanting only to
return to his wife and son; however, the dying Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard
Harris) has one more duty for the general-to assume the mantle of his power.
What makes Gladiator good is that the Director who has made Sci-Fi hits like
Alien and Blade Runnier. Made another hit here Scott made every detail of Rome
look Beautifully.
The
Coliseum that looks so good and larger then life you be asking yourself how they
did it. The film is about 2 and half hours long and though the whole movie you
will be on the edge of you seat. The way Scott did the fight scenes will blow
you away kind of like how Saving Private Ryan fight scenes did. Although you may
get a little disorient and confuse but it will not make you think different of
this film.
The supporting cast was also great too there is.
Joaquin
Phoenix (Commodus) who played his part well as the conflicted and murder
Emperor.
Djimon
Hounsou (Jaba) who became one of Maximus friends while he is a Gladiator he
played his part very well. You may know him from his breakout role in Amistad.
Richard Harris (Marcus Aurelius) who was good but was not long in the film.
Connie Nielsen (Lucilla) who is the brother to Commodus and use to love Maximus she was very good in the movie.
Gladiator
was a very great Roman movie if you are looking for a great film this is it I am
not big on this type of movie but I love this movie the movie keep me on the
edge of my seat. Don’t let the running time scary you. Gladiator does not drag
at all this will start the summer movies with a bang. Go see this movie now.
