You Will Get Up And Dance

This year we have seen many love movies like Pearl Harbor, Angel Eyes and Someone Like You, Nothing this year has there been one like this film called Moulin Rouge. The story is about Love, Truth, Beauty, Freedom and music. Set in Paris nightclub the year is 1900.

For Christian (Ewan McGregor) a young writer who finds himself at the Moulin Rouge there he will find Satine (Nicole Kidman) the sparkling diamond, star of the Moulin Rouge. Christian falls madly in love with her. Satine is caught between the love from Christian and the obsession from another man who also wants Satine. Moulin Rouge will plunged you into their world were anything goes except falling in love.

Moulin Rouge is a musical filled love story. That’s is good on many levels as well as bad on some. Here are some of the good and bad points.

Good

  1. The musical numbers were very good. They incorporated some this age music into the film like A Knight’s Tale did earlier in the year.
  2. The casts were very good. Nicole Kidman I think stole the show, she look good and did a very good job at singing some of the songs. Ewan McGregor and John Leguizamo did a very good job in the film John has some of the funny scenes in the film.
  3. The sets and clothes in the film were very good and colorful.
  4. The supporting cast was funny esp. the boss of the Moulin Rouge he was very funny and his musical number set against a Madonna song is funny.
  5. The soundtrack was good.
  6. Music fans and people who like the director preivous work will like this film. (William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet and Strictly Ballroom)
  7. The ending of the film was good.

Bad

  1. Even so I like the film the story was kind of lame we have seen the love story element before. The music is the best part of the film.
  2. It was a little bit too long they could have cut out about 15 mins of the film and still maintains the point of the film.

Overall Moulin Rouge was a pretty good movie, the music makes the film good and watch able. If you are looking for a musical this is the film or if you are looking for a good story this is not for you. But one thing is for certain you will get up and start dancing at some of the musical numbers. This film does deserve a look at.
