Sports games are American biggest pastime and there are many types of sports out there from Baseball to Wrestling. Lately we have seen a lot of sports movies from The Replacements to The Upcoming Hardball a lot of them have been good and some has been ok. As is this next film that deal with the subject Summer Catch. 

For Ryan Dunne (Freddie Prince Jr) he has a big future a head of him in baseball. He is the pitcher for Capels baseball league. He is one of the best but he has some inner problems. Dealing with Life, Death and Love that is affecting his game. He has a chance to make it to the big league he only has to realize what he has to do to become the best. As he has his eye on Tenley Parrish (Jessica Biel) will he rise to the challenge or strike out. 

2 Thing is for certain when you watch a Freddie Prince Jr film you know 1. There is going to be beautiful women in the film. 2. It most likely going to be bad. I have too admitted it is not as bad as The Ghost of Mars and The worst film of the year Freddy Got Fingered. But it not good either let me tell you why. 

Good

  1. Some of the baseball scenes were good.
  2. The girls are all beautiful as they usually are in a Prince movie.

 

Bad

  1. The main actress in the film is Beautiful but she cannot act to save her life she needs to go back to acting school. It goes for Freddy Prince Jr but he is not as bad as her.
  2. The idea of the story is ok but they did not do too much on character development.
  3. The film was a too long. They could have cut it a little.
  4. The should have made the script more before making the film.

 

Overall. This is the end of summer season where you will see a lot of bad film comes out. I guess if I like baseball I may like this film better. This film is worth the rental price but not the movie theater price. Wait to see it on video and save some money.
