A Film Review By Paul Perkins
Great Actors + Great Story = A Outstanding Film
One of the biggest problems effecting American’s is
Healthcare coverage. Healthcare is a billion dollar a year industry but for some
of us it one of the hardest thing to get if you don’t make enough, but no
matter what we need it.
John Q centers on that industry, for John Q.
Archibald (Denzel Washington) he is a average Joe who works two jobs to make
ends meat and support his wife Denise (Kimberly Elise) and young son Michael
(Daniel E. Smith). During a baseball game his son start to have chest pains and
fate on the field, so they rush him to the hospital. They find out that he needs
a heart transplant. But his insurance does not cover that kind of transplant and
the hospital wants their money before they will put his son on the organ donor
list. So he vows to do what ever it takes to save his son life.
With time running out he take a desperate gamble and take
the hospital emergency room hostage. He hops for a miracle to happen.
One of the greatest actor in film today is Denzel
Washington when he make a film you can bet on it will be good. Most of the film
he made was great even box office and Oscar success. His last film he played a
bad cop it was called Training Day in this new film he is a dad on a mission to
save his son life.
John Q was an outstanding film and fans of Denzel
will like this film. If you do not like him after seeing this film you will
trust me. The story was great this is the type of film that draws you into the
story and won’t let you go until it is over. This is a story you can believe
in everyone can related to the topic about insurance. It shows how the system is
bad and need to be fixed.
The cast was very good; there is a ton of cameos in the
film from Hollywood top stars and directors. Denzel did another outstanding job
as the father with no other option to save his son. Robert Duvall did an
outstanding job as the hostage negotiator and Ray Liotta did a good job as the
police chief who is up for re election.
All the supporting cast was very good as well, I like how
the people in the hospital also had a story as well and how all the stories
inter mix with the main story was a nice touch. John Q had no boring
moments and it did not drag at all. I could not find any bad parts about this
film it just that good.
