The Champ is Back, The Champ is Back
The Champ is back, The Champ is back; The Box Office Champ
is back in Black. Men In Black 2 that stars Fourth of July Box Office
champion Will Smith who owns the weekend with film like Independency Day,
Men in Black and most likely Men in Black 2.
Men in Black 2 continue where the last one ended. It
has been 5 years and agent Jay (Will Smith) has become the main agent in charge
of keep the streets save. He is Zed (Rip Torn) right hand man because of his old
partner Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) who was Jay teacher and the main agent of MIB. He
was neutralized (a process by which all memory is erased) and is now retired.
Working at of all things a post office as the postmaster of a small town.
But just when the earth is kind of peaceful a major threat
is about to try and take over the world a evil Kylothian creature who can
disguises herself any thing she wants, so she disguises herself as a sexy
lingerie model name Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle) who had the look for the part.
Serleena has a diabolical plot to find a special thing that she needs to rule
the solar system. So in order to find her Jay needs the help of the only man
that know what and who Serleena is that man is Kay.
So Jay must find Kay and bring him back to MIB for
de-neutralization and the two must find the clues and solve the puzzle and stop
Serleena before it is too late as the world is in their hands again.
Well it is Fourth of July weekend and it time for the big
film of the summer to be release in theaters and clean up at the box office. The
movie is Men in Black 2 and you are wondering does it have all the heat as the
first one did. Well if it rated on the heat index it will be 90 degrees.
The story it self was good but it was not as hot as the
first one was. The part of the story I did not like is that it left some
question unanswered and it took some things from the first one. Like Serleena is
looking for a object as did the alien did in the first one. The thing I like the
most is that they told little bit more about the history of the characters and
who they are as people not just as agents. And the ending has a nice twist to
it, that it did end it on a good foot but with question unanswered.
The chemistry between Will and Tommy was very good and did
not change from the first film. They ranks up there with some other great comedy
team like Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. Will Smith I think is a great actor and
is a younger version of Denzel Washington, because he is good in every film he
makes. Just like Denzel is. I think Will should have gotten the Oscar for his
role in Ali. Tommy is turning out to be good in Comedy roles. We know he is a
great actor but in comedy roles he is becoming a better actor.
The comedy in the film was very funny being the story was
not the greatest; the comedy makes up for it. There are some very funny jokes
and one line that had me laughing a lot. The funniest scenes involved Frank the
dog and the Worm's guys, when they hit the screen you know you are in for a
laugh. They get more screen time in MIB2 than in MIB 1, which is a good thing.
None of the jokes get played out or get boring at all.
The special effects and the different kinds of aliens are
very good and there are a lot of new gadgets and weapons they battle the aliens
with. The makeup effects were good as well.
The film overall is a good follow up to the original but it is not better than the original, It still is worth the price of admission and it should not be miss. It will clean up at the Box Office and it will make Will Smith hold his title as The Fourth of July Box Office champ Get ready because the Men in Black is back again. Enjoy the show
