Orange Country

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

A Good Film To Start Of The New Year Right

Going to College is a big part of a lot of young adults after high school. And choosing the right college is another. This is the premise in the new funny comedy of the New Year called Orange Country

For Shaun Brumder (Colin Hanks) he love to write and is very good at it. So he decides to go to the college called Stanford. But his over bearing mother does want her youngest kid to leave home. But this doesn’t stop Shaun he has very high sat scores.

His guidance counselor tells his he is a shoe in to get into the college. But the wrong transcript get sent to Stanford he doesn’t get in. Thinking he life is crap and he is never going to get out of Orange County his crazy and always high older brother Lance (Jack Black) has a idea to get him accepted in the college he and Shaun and girlfriend go on a road trip to the college and try to get him accepted. As it going to be a funny trip.

Well it is now 2002 and the new film season is among us. And being that this is January this is the time that Hollywood usually put out there junk film that doesn’t do well at the box office and are not that good. Orange County is not one of those film this films was funny. Let see how it does at the box office it does deserved to make money because it was very funny.

The story was very funny I like how every one interacts with everyone and how the main character is trying to do he best but everything around him is going crazy. I like the sub story with the parents how the mother had problems of her own and how the father also had problems. Even so this was a funny film it also had a meaning to the film about family morals and how family post to stick to together through all the hard times.

The cast was very funny Jack Black had a lot of the funny screen in the film. He kind of reminds me of his other film High Fidelity but this time he is high all the time. Colin Hanks was very good as well he has a lot on his shoulders.  Because of his father it too soon to see if he is going to be like his father but in this film he was good in the role.

The story did not drag at all it had the right length and the right amount of laughs and it did not over do it with the jokes. The ending was very good and well as the music for the film. The supporting cast was good and there is a couple of big actor doing cameos in the film.

Overall Orange County was a very funny film and it starts the New Year off right. The film is worth every penny of admission price and you will get a good laugh from this film.
