A Film Review By Paul Perkins (Film Info Click Here)
It is Very Chilling: It Shows What The Trilogy is All About
This has been one name in the movie business that when you
hear it you get the chills. Just hearing the name Hannibal or Hannibal the
Cannibal as he is called in the trilogy of films.
The second film of the series was The Silence of the
Lambs and it was a hit as well as it won some Oscars too. The third film was
called Hannibal and it too was a success. Like any trilogy there has to
be a beginning, well the first one is among us and it is called Red Dragon.
Red Dragon was the first novel in the Hannibal
legacy that Thomas Harris wrote and the he created evil in it purest form. In
this installment before be imprison. Dr Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) was a
psychiatrist would help FBI agent Will Graham (Edward Norton). Who is trying to
catch The Tooth Fairy Killer who kills family in their sleep?
While Graham has thoughts of who it is Hannibal have other
thoughts in his mind and when he thinks you know it going to be a bloody
outcome. Well every time I see The Silence of the Lambs I get a chill down my
spine. To be honest I am watching the film as I write this review. Hannibal was
a great follow up to the series. Well in those two films there were question not
answer like how did he get caught and ended up in prison. Well in this new film
your question will get answered.
Red Dragon was a good thriller just as good as
Silence but not better than Silence. The Character dept was a little better in
Silence. But Red Dragon did have some good chills that will make you jump
in your seat. This villain was scary but they did not go into too much about his
past. The story was very dark and creepy as the series usually is. Of course
Hannibal stole the show when he was on the screen.
The cast was great o f course there is no one I could think
of that can play Hannibal better than Anthony Hopkins. He shows us why he is the
best in his business and a great actor of his time. Edward Norton did a great
job as the agent looking for the killer and he hold up great acting next to
Hopkins. Some of the cast from the last two films is in this film. The big
different of the cast is the person play Jack Crawford character is different in
this film he is played by Harvey Keitel who did a great job in the role.
This film has some funny one-liners that Hannibal like to say. The film did not drag at all and kept it pace good. Overall if you like the series like I do you must see this installment because you will like it and because you are a fan of the series and if you are not you are missing some great filmmaking.
