Signs

A Film Review By Paul Perkins         (Film Info Click Here)

The Signs is: Don't See This Film Alone.

One of the world biggest questions Is are we alone in the universe are there other life forces out there. There has been many different films that deals with this topic.

Many people believe that they have seen aliens and there space ships. There is a real life Phenomena happing all over the world it called Crop Signs and this is the premise behind the new film from the Director of The Sixth Sense

The film is called Signs, when you are a farmer you expect to grow the best fruit and vegetables around. But what you don’t expect is that a mysterious force destroys your crop. For Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) a priest who lost his fate because of a freak accident that takes someone from his family. He is now a farmer who is raising his two kids Morgan (Rory Culkin) and Bo (Abigail Breslin).

His brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) lives with them. During one day a strange and mysterious event happen to his crop. An intricate pattern of circles and lines are carven into his crops. As he investigates the unfolding mystery, what he will find will forever alter his family live.

When M Night Shyamalan wrote and directed The Sixth Sense I think he couldn’t image how a success at the box office it would be. And how a great film it is it should have won many awards. Being said that how can you top you best moneymaker. You try and make another movie it was called Unbreakable. It did not do nearly as much as The Sixth Sense did at the box office.

The film it self was good but it is not The Sixth Sense; now he has his next film up to bat it called Signs and he written and Directed it as he did is his other films. Signs is the kind of film that it has suspense and some chilly moments. Where you will be on the edge of your seats and there are moments where you will laughs.

When you go into this film don’t expect it to be a movie just about mysterious forces. It a film that granted it about aliens but it about how one family must cope and survive when forces are trying to take over your house or planet. This is not an Independence Day type of film.

The film is a cross of The Sixth Sense (With Out Dead People) mix with Close Encounters of the Third Kind and had some of the Tension that Panic Room had but the film is much Better than Panic Room.. The story it self was good it had me watching the screen to see what will happen next.

When the scenes that make you jump comes on, they do what they are intended to do; you will jump trust me. But in some of the scenes I was hoping that something would happen because it was slowing down a tad. The acting was good by the whole cast, Mel Gibson did well as the father trying to protect his family. Joaquin Phoenix did good at his role as well. He was not as good as he did in Gladiator.

Anyone who likes The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable will like this film but not as much as those films. But Signs is a film you don’t want to miss and when you see it. Don’t go to see it Alone.
