A Film Review By Paul Perkins
The Force Is Strong With This Film
In a galaxy far far away, an epic battle has been taking
place for the past 25 years. It’s a classic story of good vs. evil that only
George Lucas can tell; Star Wars series, The most
famous films series ever made.
It has been told for over 25 years with 4 films made, Thus
far with one movie in
the works and the next one in the chapter just released in theaters called Episode
2: Attack of the Clones. It is set 10 years after Episode 1: The Phantom
Menace. The Republic continues to be mired in strife and chaos, A separatist
movement encompassing hundreds of planets with powerful corporate alliances posing
new threats to the galaxy that even the Jedi cannot stem.
These move's , long planned by an as yet unrevealed and
powerful force, lead to the beginning of the Clones wars and the beginning of
the end of the Republic. To counter the looming menace, supreme chancellor
Palpatine, continuing his consolidation of power, authorize the creation of a
great army of the Republic to assist the overwhelmed Jedi.
Star Wars is one my all time favorite series that is
just as old as I can. remember when I was 7 seeing The Empire Strikes Back
in the theaters sitting in the balcony and was dazzled by the story and special
effects. The characters and the themes of the film took me and
never let me go. Well it is 27 years later and his next installment is out and it has
a lot of making up to do for some people who didn’t like the last film, The
Phantom Menace.
Going into Episode 2 I had high hopes for the film besides
being a film critic I am a big fan of the series, I liked every film that was
made. So I waited in line at 10:00 pm to check it out, granted, I see most of the
films in press screening, But with Episode 2 I had to see it with the fans
because the fans it what the film is all about. They make the film more
enjoyable then it already is, they comes dressed up like their favorite characters
from the film and reinact some of their favorite scenes. Well the film was about
to start and boy you could feel the tension in the theater when the title came up
everyone started to scream including me.
What can I say about the film? The force is with this one;
Lucas has gone back to the old school way of directing and brings Star Wars
back to it's roots where it all started and what made it a hit in the 70’s and
80’s. The story centers on the war as well as the love story between Anakin
and Padme. Lucas did an outstanding job of showing you some of the key elements
that we all ready know about the Star Wars series. For Instance why did Anakin chose
the Dark side and a future Bounty Hunter who plays a big part in the other
films.
The characters are good I admit the acting is not that good but it is Star Wars, everything else makes up for the main flaws of the film. The one thing is nice is the way Lucas tells the story and the development of the of the characters is good in Episode 2, He tells everything about the Anakin Life and how he is changing into Dark Vader as well as the characteristics traits.
The special effect was outstanding from the opening scene
to the final battle scene. The scenes look crisp and clear and had some cool
shots. But we already know from Lucas that he can make some great special
effects and it going to look great and in Episode 2 the special effects does not
disappointed.
One of the most memorably moments of the film is with Yoda.
In Episode 2 Yoda plays a big part in the film and if you are fans of
him, like I am you will like one of the scenes he is in. It shows us that he is
the true Jedi master. Granted you may laugh a little but to see it on the big
screen is worth the price of the movie ticket.
For anyone who did not like the last film and is hesident to see this
one. Episode 2 will make up for anything you did
not like about the last film. For every fans out there you will like this film
it will reminded you of the very first Star Wars and when the final
credit comes on you will jump up in you seats and clap so hard that your hands
will hurt. When you are leaving the theater you will be saying’ I can’t
wait till the next one comes out”. In closing May The Force Be With You
Always.
P.s this is for Jar Jar Binks fan club, he is in the film for only 5 mins.
