The 13th Child: The Legend of the Jersey Devil

A Film Review By Paul Perkins         (Film Info Click Here)

A Funny Action-Comedy Film

Well Halloween is among us and Hollywood wants to give us a good scream. This time of the year there are couple movie out in theater like Ghost Ship, The Ring and the new one up to bat is The 13th Child. There is a legend that lot of Jersey residents all have heard of or heard the tale of the Jersey Devil.

So of course this is a idea that can be turn into a film, a film that ask questions about the myth of the Jersey Devil. The film is called The 13Th Child: The Legend of the Jersey Devil Volume 1. The film is set on Halloween and days before the famous holiday The story is about a assistant D.A (Michelle Maryk) who is chosen by the State  Attorney General to investigates and find the Devil as well as her lost father in the Pine Barrens in New Jersey.

Along the way she meets some strange characters like Woody Shrouds (Cliff Robertson) who love his animals and will do anything to protect them as she must solve the mysteries of the Jersey Devil.

.Walking into the movie I didn't know anything about this film I didn't see any ads on TV about it. It came out of nowhere and ending on the big screen. The last time i can remember a film like this one was The Blair Witch Project it was a box office success. But the film was not worth the film it was made on.

The Idea of The 13th Child is a interesting idea anybody who lives in Jersey like i do heard the story about it. So to see in on the big screen is a cool idea. The story was good but what hurt it was the slowness it did drag a lot esp. some of the scene it seem to never end. The monster look kind of cool it look like a mixture of Alien, Brotherhood of the Wolf and some of Effect you seen in a good Sci-Fi video game. Put it all together and you have the Devil in this film.

The acting was  good most from the Michelle Maryk she played her part well and acted very good. The Charter Dept was good. Overall Like I said earlier the slowness of the film hurt the film a lot in the theater you can't do anything but watch. When it comes out on video you can fast forward the slow parts. But the film is must better than The Blair Witch Project.
