A Film Review By Paul Perkins
You Can Count On This Movie As Great
You can take a man money, wife and life. But don’t think
he is going to lye down and do nothing about it. You may think you have the
upper hand but count on one thing Revenge. The Count of Monte Cristo is a
retelling of Alexandre Dumas classic story.
For Edmond Duntes (Jim Caviezel) he lives a peaceful life who is honest and who plans to marry the beautiful Mercedes (Dagmara Dominczyk). But his dreams are shattered because his best friend Fernand (Guy Pearce) who also like Mercedes.
He set out to frame him and get him sentenced to the prison
of Chateau D’ If. So Edmond is trapped and life is ruin but as he lies in
prison he think of revenge. Against all who betrayed him as he sets out to
destroyed the one that destroyed him.
Films that have a person who get his life ruin because of a
lie who seek revenge on the people who did it to him. Is one of my favorite type
of films, Lately there have been a lot of film that retells of a classic novel
or movie like last year The Musketeer that was a good movie. Well The Count
of Monte Cristo can be added to that list.
The way the director told the story and show the dept of
the character was outstanding. The film did not drag at all; it had a great
story mix with great action and great drama. The cast was outstanding; the fine
performance by Guy Pearce who was also great in the small indie film called Memento,
Jim Caviezel did a fine performance as well. The character was so believable and
you feel for the good guy and hate the bad guy..
The Count of Monte Cristo was a outstanding film 5 stars I have given it. There were no bad points about the film. This is one of the best films of this year so far and if Hollywood keeps up this good work it going to be a good year for film. This film is worth every penny of the admission price you will like this film a lot and get into the story go see this fine film.
