The Scorpion King

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

You Will Smell What The Rock Is Cooking; The Next Action Superstar

Before I begin my review for anybody who think this is a sequel of The Mummy films you are wrong this is not a sequel this is a prequel. The film set back before The Mummy films happen.

Now to the review 5 years ago a Ruthless Warrior name Memnon (Steven Brand) is taking over the land and killing anyone who is against him. The reason he is so powerful is because he has a sorceress (Kelly Hu) next to him telling him want to do in battle to beat his enemies, because she can see into the future.

But the people want him to be killed but they cannot do it themselves. So they hired a deadly assassin name Mathayus (Know to millions—and millions of his fans as The Rock “Dwayne Johnson”). So Mathayus sent out with the help of long time enemy now kind of a friend Balthazar (Michael Clarke Duncan) to destroy Memnon. So peace can back to the land.

In the world of professional wrestling there is one man who all the kids look up to, all his co-workers want to become in the business and himself is trying to be the best in all he does. He is called The Rock or his tagline is the people champion. In wrestling The Rock comes up with the best saying and can get the crow cheering for him.

Just like one of his co-workers name Hogan; he is branching out to film to try something different. His first film was The Mummy Returns, which is the Sequel to The Mummy, but he had a very short part in the film and in one scene was very cheesy looking. You are know if you are a wrestling fans how he is in the ring but you may be asking yourself can he act?

Yes he can as an actor he was good. He seems to have the part down pack and also seems to know all the lines and how the facial expression for some of scenes should be like. The action scenes were good and clearly The Rock is the man for the role. If all his action films are like this on he can be the next Sylvester or Arnold of this generation. Well enough about The Rock let me tell you about the film.

Well The Scorpion King is a prequel not a sequel to The Mummy Franchise. But it does have some elements from the second one. Like in the second one had a scene with The Scorpion King but it was short. The Scorpion King uses some cgi stiff but not as much as the two mummy films did. In the other two there was some man-eaters but that look like big coach roaches in this film they use man-eaters red ants and well ask some cgi cobras.

The film is mostly action adventure; but what was surprising to me is that is has some funny one-liners in the film. The acting was very good between all of the main cast members. The ladies of the film look very nice and very nice to look at. But what was very nice is that they had a big part in the film and in the fight scenes. Kelly Hu was one of the main female lead in the film.

For all of you wrestling fans out there is a totally of 5 wrestling moves preformed in the film and well as one of The Rock trade marks. Also there is a cameo by another wrestler in the film but he has a small part.

Overall The Scorpion King was a very good film with a good story, good action, and good performances by The Rock and the rest of the cast. This is a film that everyone who is or is not a wrestling fan will like and will get into. By the time the film ends You Will Smell What The Scorpion King Is Cooking.
