A Film Review By Clyde Ayles (Film Info Click Here)
A Really Nice Trip!
In 1956, The best picture Oscar went to "Around the World in 80 Days" It starred David Niven as Phineas Fogg, a man who bet everything that he could circle the world in 80 Days. Yes a saw this movie in the theaters, I was a teenager. But the movie stayed in my mind. Great scenery, cameos, Shirley McClaine, soundtrack, a hit song "Around the World" by Jayne Morgan.
Well, low & behold, almost 50 years later, I got that same feeling. I saw the new "Around the World in 80 Days" from Walt Disney pictures. This one stars Jackie Chan & Steve Coogan. I remember Steve Coogan from one of the vignettes from "Coffee & Cigarettes," This version has all the fun, magic, scenery as the first.
I had a great time. just when I left one part of the world, I was swept away to another. I enjoyed every one in this movie. There are also great cameos in this one.
And what can you say about Jackie Chan. He's fun & adventures at the same time. He is a little more subdued than usual, but still great! after all, he's turning 50. as he says, how long can he keep doing his own stunts?
I was also taken with Cecile De France, the female lead. She is the owner of an award from France. She charming, attractive and funny. This is her first American film hope we see more of her.
The film was Directed by Frank Coraci, who also Directed my two favorite Adam Sandler movies "The Wedding Singer" and "The Waterboy" so take a trip to your theater, and take a trip around the world.
