Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

EMPTY DIARY

Bridget Jones' Diary was a sweet entertaining film that took us into the life of an overweight young woman and her trials of life.   She was caught in between two men, played by HUGH GRANT and COLIN FIRTH.  In this follow up, we find that Colin Firth is her  boyfriend with a successful career. He barely has the time to spend with her, spending most of his time working late with a pretty little thing (JUCINDA BARRETT). Poor Bridget, again played by the perky talented REN'EE ZELLWEGER, spends most of the movie putting her foot in her mouth or trying to catch her boyfriend doing bad deeds.   Hugh Grani repeats his role from the first film with such little to do he could have phoned his role in. There is a whole part of the story where Bridget is thrown in jail with a group of oriental woman. What a waste.  Ms. Zellweger is as charming and adorable as ever, but she alone can not save this movie. There are times when it just moves too slow.   BEEBAN KIDRON (To Wong Foo) directed and did a fine job. I just wish he had more to work with.  SEE YA AT THE MOVIES    CLYDE
