Friday Night Lights

NO FUMBLES HERE

First , let me start out by saying I am not a huge Football fan. I will watch a game at a friend's house at times or I will listen for a final score.  But i have been  really entertained by a very good movie about Football. There was RUDY and REMEMBER THE TITANS. Both on the A list, the four star list. Now there's a new one to add to this hit list.  I saw 'FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS' and was blown away. This is not only about the game, but also about people. People you care about.    This is based on a true story about a small town football team and their emotional quest for the Texas state championship. The coach of this team is portrayed by BILLY BOB THORTON ( Bad Santa, The Alamo). I hope this film redeems him after the Alamo bomb.     We also come to know the star running back, James "Boobie" Miles, whose whole life is centered on playing football. The very capable DEREK LUKE (Antwone Fisher) takes on the role as "Boobie" and a fine job he does. This young man is going places.    The scenes of the games are as exciting as watching the real thing. The movements, the emotions, the cheers and the letdowns are all there.      This four star film was directed by PETER BERG ((the Rundown) and was filmed entirely in the lone star state of Texas and takes place circa 1988.  I think a nice added touch to films like this are when they tell you via the end titles what the subjects of the story are doing now.     Give yourself a treat, see this movie, ether you are a sports fan or not.  SEE YA AT THE MOVIES    CLYDE
