A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
A MASTER PAINTING IN MOTION HERO
Yes, it"s true, HERO is a martial arts film. Yes, it has reminders of Hidden Dragon. Yes, it stars JET LI. And yes, it is subtitled. But I say, who cares?. This film is a masterpiece. It is so beautiffuly photographed, that it is like a wonderful work of art, a painting come to life. The story takes place 2000 years ago, with the birth of China from seven separate lands. A master swordsman and warrior refered to only as Nameless (Li) travels to meet the King of Qin (Chen Daoming). He tells the King that he has protected him from highly skilled assassins who want to kill him to keep him from becoming the emperor of China. The film is directed by Zhang Yimou ( Raise the Red Lantern ). This skilled director is famous for using bright glowing colors to show feelings, this time he has outdone himself. HERO has grossed more than 100 million dollars oversees, It is distributed to American theatres in its original form. And we are blessed for this. Writer-director Quentin Tarantino had a hand in this being shown here. I thank him. Give your eyes and senses a treat. See HERO SEE YA AT THE MOVIES, CLYDE
