Lemony Snicket

A SERIES OF BORING EVENTS

First, I have to start off by telling you that I am bored by JIM CARREY"S   same old funny faces and look at me, I'm funny routine.    Next, the byline on this farse says a series of unfortunate events.  Well, they're right. The whole film is an unfortunate event.       It tells the story of three kids, a boy, a girl, and a baby girl  who after their parents die are sent to live with Count Olof (Carrey) who tries to have them killed off by an oncoming train by locking them in a car and parking it on the tracks.  Sounds like a nice family movie.   As we wait for this to happen, we have to watch Carrey's same old facial expressions. The children are fine. We have Violet, Klaus, and baby Sunny. But they are not as charming as the Mary Poppins kids or as interesting as the Harry Potter kids. In time they are sent to live with BILLY CONNOLLY, who meets an untimely death, thanks to  Count Olof.     We also meet nutty Aunt Josephine (played by MERYL STREEP, sporting one of the worst wigs I have ever seen in movies, and I've seen allot of movies.  The movie is very dark and scary for small children. Based on Daniel Handler's Snicket novellas and directed by Brad Siberling (Moonlight Mile)  This film can never compare with the Harry Potter series as the studio hoped it would.  I read where Carrey made the statement that he hoped people would walk out of the theatre after watching the children's plight saying " WHEW !   I'm glad I'm not them"   Well I did that. I was glad I wasn't in this movie.      SEE YA AT THE MOVIES    CLYDE
