The Life Aquatic

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles         (Film Info Click Here)

LIFE & H2O = GOOD

In "THE LIFE AQUATIC"  the very capable BILL MURRAY is an underwater filmmaker. He and his crew of the Belafonte, his living quarters filled boat, make movies about undersea life and treasures. Filmmaker Steve Zissou (Murray) sets out to film his latest documentary . Traveling with him are OWEN WILSON, a pilot for Air Kentucky, who may or not be his son, CATE BLANCHET, a reporter working on a profile of Zissou,  ANJELICA HOUSTON  as his very dissatisfied wife, WILLEM DEFOE , his loyal German crewmate, and JEFF GOLBLUM as his very high and mighty rival. After one of his crew members is killed by a mysterious osean creature, Steve's mission is turned to finding this killer. It' almost like Capt. Ahab  in Moby Dick.  Along the way they meet pirates and many assorted strange under the deep creatures, thanks to the artistic work of animator Henry Selick, who showed his know how in Tim Burton'x "a Nightmare Before Christmas:. The film is full of adventure, fun, and amazing photography. It was directed by WES ANDERSON( Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums)    Watch BILL MURRAY, who can be very funny without going overboard, no pun intended, reach for another Oscar nomination.           SEE YA AT THE MOVIES     CLYDE
