A Big Disappointment
This film has three rules that tell about the story. 1. Is let the bad color not been seen it attracts them. 2. Never enter the woods that is where they wait and 3. Heed the warning bell for they are coming. Well after seeing this film the three rules so be like this.
The Village is the fourth big film from M. Night Shyamalan who made the film Signs, Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense. Now On to The Village which is must different from his previous film with the one exception the ending of course this film has a surprise ending.
The Village is about a group of townspeople who lives in a quite village enjoying life and living life day by day. But this is not like no other village there is creatures who life in the wood. The elders of the towns who is lead by the town leader Edward Walker (William Hunt) keeps order in the town and tries to keep everyone away from the wood so the creatures will not harm anyone.
Despite the advice of his elders, a curious and determined Lucius Hunt (Joaquin Phoenix) has a burning desire to step beyond the boundaries of the town into the unknown.
Well walking into The Village I was hoping for a good film. I like The Sixth Sense and I feel it the best picture he ever made as a director. But after seeing the film I was very disappointed because I thought it would be better film.
The problem of the film is the story because the way the film is told it is strange. While watching it I was wondering do I like it or hate it. The film was so strange least with the sixth sense the film was great it grabs you in and never let you go. With The Village it start to tell you the story and then the scary music stars to play, you hear the monsters and then it stops and then it get strange and slow.
The film then drags and drags a lot then they show a key plot point and then you figure out the meaning of the film and then the surprise ending is reveal and then the film is done and then you wonder what film you just saw. The Village is no way better or even close to The Sixth Sense. The idea of the film was kind of good but then the film drag and get stupid with mess up the idea of the film. The acting was good but not great, there is not one great performance that stands out in my mind that was worth to mention in this review.
The only thing good in this film was the score there are some great eerie sound effects that will make you jump and in one screen you will just out of you seat. Overall The Village was a big disappointment and should have been made better.
