THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT
It is believed by many religious folks that the world consists of two things,good and evil and that there are retirement communities for those who choose the right one. If you try to take your own life, you will be sent to hell forever. But you can redeem yourself by spending time on earth, finding all those who belong down below and sending them there. Constantine is one of the chosen ones for this task. As a boy, he tried to take his own life. He makes a pack with the devil to find these drifters. KEANU REEVES is Constantine. I really don't think he was the best choice. He uses the same voice and looks as in "Matrix". Why do all the anti heroes talk in he man whispers? I understand that Nicholas Cage was first considered for this role, A better choice. Along the way he is helped by Angela Dodson (RACHEL WEISZ) who's sister may or may not have taken her own life. As we go through the journey we are treated to some very fine special effects. We see the demonic creatures from hell as they try to get Constantine back. There is the battle between Constantine and God's angel Gabriel (TILDA SWINTON). Then we meet the devil himself, (played by GAVIN ROSSDALE) all decked out in a white suit. The film is fun to watch at times, but the director, FRANCIS LAWRENCE, who does music videos, cops out a few times. Constantine was adapted from a comic book Hell blazer.
