A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
SOAP OPERA, BUT GOOD
Crash is one of those films that keep your attention all the way. The cast is excellent, the story riveting, and the camera work great. We have an assortment of characters here in different situations that all resolve themselves simultaneously. We have DON CHEADLE as detective Graham who is on his way to investigate a car crash. His thoughts are that no one touches each other anymore, so they cause accidents just to be close to one another. We have SANDRA BULLOCK and BRENDAN FRAZER as a couple who have their Lincoln Navigator carjacked by two young black men (CHRIS "LUDACRIS" BRIDGES and LORENZ TATE) at gunpoint. We have MATT DILLON as a veteran cop who takes great pleasure in pulling over a wealthy black couple (TERRENCE HOWARD and THANDIE NEWTON). We have MICHAEL PENA as a locksmith who has to come home to protect his wife and daughter from an angry Parersian convenience store owner. This is a story, or should I say stories about prejudice involving everyone. It was written and directed by PAUL HAGGIS who wrote the screenplay for "Million Dollar Baby" Not bad.
