A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
A Home Run
I love DREW BARRYMORE, I am not a big fan of JIMMY FALLON, as evidence in my review of”Taxi". But Ms. Barrymore must bring out the best in her leading men. My two favorite Adam Sandler movies were "The Wedding Singer" and "50 First Dates" Now she has done the same for Mr. Fallon. He was perfect in his role as Ben Wrightman, a man with an obsession for the Boston Red Sox, a passion he inherited as a boy when his uncle took him to a Sox game in Fenway Park. Obsession is a mild way of putting it. His whole apartment is decorated with posters, pictures, his shower curtain, his bed sheets are all Red Sox. One day Ben, who is a teacher, takes his class on a trip to a corporate office so they can learn how big business is run. It is here he meets business consultant Lindsey Meeks (Barrymore). He falls in love and goes back later to ask her out. In time he wins her over with his charm, and he shows plenty of it in this movie. Soon he tries to get her involved with his love for baseball. She goes to all the games with him, but takes her laptop with her so she can keep up with her work. This starts to annoy Ben. So now we have our on again, off again love battles. But you and I know how it will all end. One of the best moments is when Lindsey runs across the ball park during a game to stop Ben from selling his season tickets. I really enjoyed this film, and I think you will too. It's another hit by the Farrelly Brothers who gave us "There's Something About Mary" and 'Shallow Hal'. Also in the cast are IONE SKYE and JOBETH WILLIAMS. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE
