A File Review By Clyde Ayles
GOOD MOVIE, BAD ENDING
Watching "HIDE AND SEEK" is like opening a huge birthday gift in a big box, all wraped up with big bows and pretty paper, then when you open it, it's an empty box The film starts out promising. DAKOTA FANNING is a small town girl who is haunted by her mother's suicide. Her father. ROBERT DENIRO, a psychiatrist, finds it impossible to console her. He feels that if they move out of the apartment where the death took place, it will help. He finds the ideal home. It,s a nice summer house with all the things that go with a horror film. Lots of hallways, closets, and an attic. Everything seems well for awhile, then things happen, bad things. We meet the neighbors, friendly, but strange. We meet another neighbor, Elizabeth ( ELISABETH SHUE) who becomes friendly with the doctor, much to his daughter's dismay. Soon things really start to happen. Strange scary things. The little girl starts blaming everything on her new imaginary friend, Charley. The movie has some really jump out of your seat parts. It suddenly falls apart in the third act. It's almost like the writers and the director ( JOHN POISON) didn't know where to go, so they took the easy way out. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE.
