Ice Princess

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

ICE ICE BABY

Disney's "Ice Princess" is far from a great movie, but it does have it's merits.  MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG plays Casey Carlyle, a science prodigy, who along with her mother (JOAN CUSACK) have their sights set on a scholarship and admission to Harvard. Let's say this is more her mother's dream than Casey's. While doing a science project on the physics of skating, she enters a beginner's class on ice skating. This is where skating coach Tina Harwood  (KIM CATTRALL) comes into the picture. Tina is training her daughter , Gen (HAYDEN PANATTIERE) to be a skating champ. Casey is noticed by Tina, who feels she should be a skater, because she shows promise.   If you are a fan of figure skating, you will appreciate the the wonderful moments of same. Nicely choreographed, except for some wide shots where you can make out a double for Ms. Trachtenberg.   There are some tender moments and surprising scenes in this film, but it is cute and predictable.   SEE YA AT THE MOVIES   CLYDE
