A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
FUN TO WATCH
Once there were two brothers by the names of Paul Wietz and Chris Wietz who together made the movies "American Pie" and "About A Boy" Both fun films. Now Paul makes his solo debut as director of "In Good Company" and he does his job well. The movie stars DENNIS QUAID as Dan Foreman, a 51 year old sports magazine ad salesman from the old school. At first we find that Dan"s wife (played by MARG HELGENBERGER from C.S.I.) is pregnant and his 18 year old daughter ( the very talented SCARLETT JOHANSSON) is planning to go to N.Y.U.. There goes his wallet full of money. To add to his problems we are introduced to 26 year old Carter Duryea ( TOPHER GRACE) who works for Globe.com, an unfeeling conglomerate that is taking over Sports America magazine. Carter will be the new hotshot, thus becoming Dan's boss. As far as he is concerned Dan is an old horse that must step down a peg. To add insult to injury, Carter invites himself to dinner at Dan's house where he meets the daughter. Things happen from there. The movie is good old fashion comedy. The audience I saw it with laughed a lot. Dennis Quaid is a very good underrated actor, See " The Rookie". And I stated a couple of years ago in my review of "American Rhapsody" that Scarlett Johansson should be watched. The ending boils down to one thing, be kind to those you pass on the way up the ladder, you may pass them as you are coming back down..
