Into the Blue

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

ALMOST AFLOAT

Let's see, we have sunken treasure, underwater photography,  real sharks, and JESSICA ALBA in a bikini. What more can we ask for?   How about a better movie.  "Into The Blue"  centers around a young American named Jared (PAUL WALKER), who lives in an old trailer next to the water. He has just quit his job as a guide on diving excursions, He has time to search for legendary treasures that may be buried in a sunken ship. After a storm has stirred the ocean, he feels he has a better chance of finding this treasure. So together with his girlfriend Sam (Ms. Alba), and his best friend Bryce, (the very annoying SCOTT CAAN) a lawyer and Bryce's current girlfriend Amanda (ASHLEY SCOTT) he goes out on his very old boat to search for treasure. During the search they come across a sunken plane containing a dead crew and its cache of cocaine. Sam and Jared want to ignore the plane and journey on to the ship and it's treasure, but Bryce and Amanda don't listen. You know that this has to lead to disaster. We have the usual drug lord and his men who insist that the friends dive down and retrieve the drugs or else. Director JOHN STOCKWELL (Blue Crush) gives us pretty scenery, real sharks, and some exciting moments, but not enough to sustain this over long movie. Still, I give it three and a half stars.  Two for Jessica Alba And Ashley Scott in bikinis, one and a half for the film itsself. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES    CLYDE
