King Kong

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

You Will Go Bananas Over This King of All Kong's

Love comes in all shape and sizes and one of the biggest loves stories between too men and one women is out. You may be saying not another one how many movies have you seen with the same story as two men fighting over one women. The difference is this one the one man is a real life man and the other is a 25 foot ape you heard right a 25 foot ape.

One of the biggest film and I mean biggest films of the year is out and it is called King Kong and it a remake of the 1933 version but with outstanding special effects. King Kong is about a filmmaker Carl Denham (Jack Black) who has a vision to make the best film he can make but it is 1933 and it is the during the Great Depression. So he needs to find his the main star of the film which he does finds her trying to steal a apple her name is Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts).

But the studio does not what him to make the film so he had to do the only thing he can do to make the film. So he lift the only existing print of his most recent and unfinished film from under his studio executives’ noses when they threatened to pull his completion funds. Carl has until the end of the day to get his crew onboard the Singapore-bound tramp steamer, the S.S. Venture, in hopes of completing his travelogue/action film. With that, the showman is certain he will finally achieve the personal greatness he knows awaits him around the corner…and although the crew believe that corner to be Singapore, Denham actually hopes to find and capture on film the mysterious place of legend: Skull Island.

King Kong was a great epic motion picture in 1933 and now in 2005 and think Peter Jackson did a outstanding job of this remake and this is a remake if you are wondering. But because of the 1930 did not have the Technology like this century does they could name make Kong looks like he does in this one.

The Special effect was one of the best effects I have seen in films next to Star Wars and Pixar films. The only thing I can say bad about some of the effects is one of the Dinosaurs scenes they could have fine tone it a little better. The story was pretty much right on the money from the 1933 version of course there are some new things added to make the story a little bit difference.

The acting was good mostly by Naomi Watts characters and some of the supporting cast. Jack Black was ok but I think they could have found a more serious actor then a comedian. Don’t get me wrong he is a good comedy actor but just that comedy. The only thing else I can say bad about King Kong is the length it was a tad bit too long it is 3 hr and 7 mins it could have cut about 30 mins and still told the story.

Overall King Kong is a outstanding epic of a motion picture and it did the 1933 film justice. This is one film you don’t want to miss this holiday season check it out today.
