Monster In Law

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

JANE'S MOVIE

This very funny movie marks JANE FONDA"S comeback. Her first film in 15 years. Well i think she picked the right role. She is really great in the role of a mother who wants the best for her son Kevin (MICHAEL VARTAN of TV’s "Alias".) Jane is Viola Fields, a four times married, pampered TV .boss who is told by her network bosses that she is now over the hill and will be replaced by a much younger blonde bombshell. So what else can go wrong?  Well her son brings home his new fiancé. A down on her luck dog walker / yoga instructor who is way beneath what Viola wants for her son. Charlotte (JENNIFER LOPEZ) becomes Viola’s target. She does everything she can to sway Charlotte from marrying her son, who is also a high ranking surgeon. The batter back and forth between the two women is worth the admission price. Keep an eye on WANDA SYKES (of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm) She is a real scene stealer as Viola's outspoken assistant. She is on the money as she tries to keep her boss on the right track.  Director ROBERT LUKETIC ("Legally Blonde) must have watched a lot of Three Stooges films to stage the hysterical slap stick battles between Jane and Jennifer. All I can say is when Charlotte realizes that Viola's fainting spells and pill taking moments are all part of a plan to get her son to give up his wife to be, all hell breaks loose.  One of the funniest films so far this year.  SEE YA AT THE MOVIES   CLYDE
