A Film Review By Paul Perkins
This is a First Class Film
What makes a great Suspense film? Is it a film that make you stay on the edge of your seat, or a film that some of the parts make you heart pound faster that running on a treadmill or is it the story that makes it suspense. We all know that Alfred Hitchcock was a master at suspense film. However, there is a new person who did an outstanding job and can be call the next Hitchcock. He is Wes Craven, he is the master of the horror genre, and now he is the master of the suspense genre.
The film is called “Red Eye” and do not let the teaser trailer fool you this is not a Horror movie this is a psychological thriller. The film centers on a hotel manger name Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams) who hates to fly she is on the way home to Miami so she takes the Red Eye flight. The flight is delayed so she meets a fellow passenger name Jackson (Cillian Murphy) who seems to be a nice person she can relate to as the two become seatmates on the flight. On take off Jackson reveals his true plans to Lisa as he tells her she has to help him or her father is dead. Therefore, this starts a series of events that will change her life forever
Well what I can say about this film. A lot because this is one kick ass film and it deserved to be seen by everyone in the world. My hat off to Wes Craven for this great movie. There is something you look for when watching or review a movie one is the story, the story has to be interesting and draw you into it’s world, second the acting has to be good he or she has to have depth in there role so when they come off on the big screening you can tell they are happy to be there. Not there just to get a paycheck if they are it will hurt the quality of the film. Third the Director has to tell the story his way not a way someone else what him or her to do. When a director has a vision and he gets to tell it the way he wants to it just make the film going experience more fun. Another big part is the ending of a film some time an ending of a film will ruin the whole experience of the film. For example The Sixth Sense if you new the ending before you seen the film it would not feel the same if you never new it. And last but not least when you leave the theater you want to get your money worth trust me I mostly see all the movie for free but if I had to pay 10 Dollars for a movie like Devil Rejects I would scream bloody murder.
Therefore, after saying all of this does Red Eye has everything a good movie post to have YES, YES oh Hell Yes. This is one film that I can honestly say that I was on the edge of my seat from the start of the titles to the end credits. When I see it in New York it was a pact house about 300 to 400 people and let me tell you everyone was screaming at some of the screens including me I could not control my self. When the film was done I had to get up and clap because I just seen one of the top ten films of the year. Any film you see for the rest of the summer, make sure Red Eye is one of them. If you value you money and time then this is the film for you and after you see it you will see what I a mean. Then when it comes out on video check it out again because I know the DVD will have some good deleted scenes and check out the making of the film to see how the director made this fine piece of filmmaking.
