A Film Review By Paul Perkins
Today is The Day You Want To Check Out This Film
Being on this world for the past 32 years was not a easy life, I cheated death once when I was a kid, I been married once been divorced and also was bankrupt once so my life has not been easy but who has. In life, you cannot feel bad for what is happing to you or your, life is going to rush right past you. So take every day like it your last.
“Forget regret, or life is yours
to miss.
No other road. No other way.
No day but today.”
Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning revolutionary rock opera Rent tells the
story of a group of bohemians struggling to express themselves through their art
and “measuring their lives in love.” Against the gritty backdrop of New York’s
East Village, these friends strive for success and acceptance while enduring the
obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic. Quoted from the press kit.
Rent is the new film from the new trend in Hollywood making films base on big hit stage plays. We have seen The Phantom of the Opera, which is an outstanding play and movie upcoming, is The Producers. I have never seen the stage play of Rent but after seeing the movie I have to check it out. When I seen the film it was on opening night at the Ritz Voorhees and it was sold out. Therefore, there were many fans of the stage play in the theater and when the film was done, everyone was saying it just like the stage play. The group of women sitting behind me says it was a spitting image of the stage play.
The music was very good so good I had to buy the soundtrack, which is 2 CD Set, which is available at your local record store. The cast was outstanding and it the original cast except two people who are new to the cast. The story was very good and powerfully about how life is like a baseball game, something it throws you a perfect pitch and some time it throws you a curve ball. Each of the sub stories was outstanding and ties in great with the main story.
This film is not like any other film because the story is told through musical songs numbers, which are outstanding so if you are not into musicals then this is the films that will make you change you mind about them. Because this film is worth the price of admission and should be check out by everyone. So check it out today.
