Starwars Episode 3

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

JOURNEY TO THE DARK SIDE

Now we have come full circle. The Star Wars saga is complete. Or is it?       "Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith " tells us how Anakin Skywalker was seduced by the dark side, and what a trip it is. This has to be the second best film in the series. I still think "Empire Strikes Back" is the best. We start with what is now the familiar opening, the title followed by an introduction to the story all Drifting upward into the galaxy, along with the title theme by JOHN WILLIAMS. At this the audience I saw it with went wild. As the first scene opens we see Anakin Skywalker (HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN) and his friend Obe-Wan Kenobi (EWAN MCGREGOR) are piloting two fighter crafts in an attempt to rescue Chancellor Palpatine (IAN MCDIARMID) who has been captured by the rebel General Grievous (A hacking bent over creature voiced by Matthew Woods who sounds so raspy he must smoke ten packs of cigarettes a day. There is a lot of breath taking action scenes here. Like going back to the good days of the early films.       Later, we are back in the world of the Jedi Council where Anikin is told he will not be named a Jedi Master, despite his good deeds. The council does not trust Palpatine and orders Anakin to spy on him. In a turn about, Palpatine wants Anakin to spy on the council. Palpatine works on seducing him to the dark side. He plays heavily on Anakins wounded ego. The situation is further helped after Anakin has a meeting with Padme (NATALIE PORTMAN) who informs him that she is pregnant. Leaving him with mixed emotions. Palpatine informs Anakin that Padme will die and only he is able to save her by using the dark side. Little by Little we see the young Skywalker turning to what will become Darth Vader. As this progresses we are introduced to a more serious Yoda who knows what will happen if this takes place.  The final battle between Obi-Wan and his former friend is the final touch. We see what happens to make Anakin into a machine. It is very well done. Just as he becomes the evil breathing machine, Padme gives birth to twins, a boy named Luke and a girl named Lea. then dies in childbirth. As death comes, so does life. FRANK OZ is once again the voice of Yoda.       The city scenes and the scenes of ships flying in the galaxy, the battle scenes, the creatures, everything is as good as episodes 4 and 5. Will we ever see Luke, Lea, or Han Solo again?  Only time will tell. But they have left an impression on our lives.  With Revenge of the Sith I forgive GEORGE LUCAS for 1 and 2.   SEE YA AT THE MOVIES   CLYDE
