The Cave

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

DO NOT ENTER

One article I read stated that "The Cave" was like "Alien" underground. I beg to differ, "Alien" was a good movie.  It tries hard to be a good creature film, but it really falls flat.  We meet Jack (COLE HAUSER) and his team who are the best cave divers[ explorers in the world. they are hired by Romanian scientist Dr. Nicolai (MARCEL IURES) to check out a cavern he's unearthed beneath a long-abandoned 13th century abbey. So Jack packs up his crew consisting of his cocky younger brother , Tyler (EDDIE CIBRIAN), long time pal Buchanan (MORRIS CHESTNUT), feisty Charlie (PIPER PERABO), arrogant Briggs (RICK RAVANELLO), and tech Strode (KIERAN DARCEY-SMITH) and heads for the mysterious cave. They are joined by scientist Kathryn Jennings (LENA HEADLEY) and videographer Alex Kim (DANIEL DAE KIM).  When they go down into the cave, they discover that they were not the first to.be there.  They find bones and remains of unfortunate victims of some weird disaster. Soon they find out all about it as they are attacked by evil creatures who lurk there. One by one they fall.   The effects are o.k., but you have seen this a hundred times over. Not once did I jump out of my seat. It does have a nice little twist at the end. But all in all, wait for the DVD. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES   CLYDE
