A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
A SEARCH FOR TRUTH
In this beautifully, strikingly photographed film, directed to perfection by FERNANDO MEIRELLES, an outspoken political activist travels to Kenya to investigate the rumors of a powerful pharmaceutical firm that is using deadly illegal experiments on the people of the land. Soon she is targeted by the firm. She is brutally murdered because she was searching for the truth. Throughout the film we learn a lot about Tessa Quial (p;ayed by RACHEL WEISZ). She is a caring and wonderful person. Her husband, Justin (the fine actor RALPH FIENNES) is a diplomat who was against his wife going to Kenya in the first place. When he learns of her murder, he travels to Kenya in his own search for truth. The results add up to one powerful motion picture, full of suspense and intrigue. DANNY HOUSTIN is his friend who tries to stop him for his own reasons. There are some great scenes that will leave you breathless. One outstanding moment is when an army of renegade natives swoop down on the villagers to kill children and take the women. The total panic is something to behold. Another is the sad eyes of a little girl as she runs beside an airplane that refuses to take her to safety. This is one of a kind film. It will be on my top ten. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE
