The Family Stone

A STONED FAMILY
As far as I can see, "The Family Stone" is the only film with a Christmas theme this season. Meredith Morton (SARAH JESSICA PARKER) is engaged to Everett Stone (DERMOT MULRONEY) He is bringing her home for the Christmas holiday to meet his family. Bad idea. They all feel that she is unfit for him. The main pain is snotty sister Amy (RACHEL McADAMS). The rest of the family consists of brother Ben (LUKE WILSON), the black sheep of the family, a pregnant sister, a gay deaf brother and his partner.This family is held together by dad (CRAIG T. NELSON) and mom (DIANE KEATON). During the course of the movie things get so bad for Meredith that she calls her sister Julie (CLAIRE DANES) to come for a visit , hoping that she will help ease things. But instead things get more complicated with everyone falling for the wrong person. Also, mother Stone appears to have a fatal illness, don't they always. Director THOMAS BEZUCHA gives us a few funny moments, but not enough to keep us laughing long. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE
