A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
A GUIDE TO A WILD RIDE
This great eye candy mind popping movie is like an amusement park ride like no other. The basic story is that Earth will be destroyed to make room for a space highway. As the film opens we are introduced to Arthur Dent (MARTIN FREEMAN) who's house is about to be bulldozed. We meet his best friend (MOS DEF) who turns out to be from another planet. Together they hitch a ride on a passing spaceship. From that moment on we are treated to the weird, the unusual, the eye-popping, well let's say a very different type of fun. We are told that the end of the Earth was coming. The Dolphins who did their water tricks were trying to tell us, but we would not listen. So when the time comes, we see the dolphins floating into space and singing "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" in a really great scene. In the galaxy we meet all sorts of characters and creatures. We meet Zaphod Beeblebrox (SAM ROCKWELL, recently in ' Matchstick Men", who is self appointed king of the universe. There is Trish, an old friend of Arthur (ZOOEY DESCHANEL, "Almost Famous", "The Good Girl",). Meet Slartibartfast ( the very good BILL NIGHY, "Love Actually") And Marvin, an adorable little robot who looks like a little storm trooper, played by WARWICK DAVIS, from "Willow" and "Return Of The Jedi" and voiced by ALAN RICKMAN, the Harry Potter Series. Also we have an assortment of creatures that are evil and funny. The film is based on a popular book by DOUGLAS ADAMS and directed by GARTH JENNINGS in his first film. This is one good movie. It's really like a live cartoon, and that's not bad. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE
