A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
NOT PERFECT, BUT CUTE
Talk about movies not being real, have I got one for you. Who could ever believe that HEATHER LOCKLEAR would have trouble finding a man? Well this is the story line of "The Perfect Man". Ms. Locklear plays a single mom with two daughters, teenage Holly, (HILARY DUFF) and 7 year old Zoe (ARIA WALLACE). It seems Jean Hamilton (Locklear) is always having bad affairs so the family just keeps moving from place to place. Poor Holly can take this no longer, so she invents a secret admirer for her mom. With the help of her new friend Amy (VANESSA LENGIES) she sends flowers and sweet notes. After a few of these Jean wants to meet her new found love. As it happens, Amy has an uncle named Ben (CHRIS NOTH) who runs a bistro and knows about women and what a perfect man should be. So Holly names the admirer Ben. In the process she meets a young man of her own, Adam (BEN FELDMEN) who even helps her E-mail messages to her mom. Meanwhile Jean is being pursued by Lenny (MIKE O' MALLEY) who works in the bakery where she is employed. There are some very funny moments like when she accepts a date with Lenny to a Styx concert, or when Jean winds up in Ben's Bistro with the chance they may meet. Holly takes care of that in a funny but impossible scene. The relationship between mother and daughter is sweet, in fact so sweet that i advise you not to eat too much candy during the film or you will get a sugar high. Hilary is as cute and perky as ever, Heather is always on top even when they try to make her look frumpy. This large piece of confection was directed by MARK ROSMAN who also helmed "Cinderella Story" with Duff. It is released by Universal Pictures.SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE
