A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
TOP BREED
"Unleashed is one of those rare films that combine human nature and violence very well. JET LI is a young man who has been raised from a little boy to embrace anger and a fighting spirit. This is instilled in him by a gangster by the name of Bart (BOB HOSKINS) an evil man who puts a collar on Li like a dog. When he removes the collar, Li is like a mad dog and attacks anyone he is told to. Eventually he escapes and finds refuge with a blind pianist (MORGAN FREEMAN) and his stepdaughter (KERRY CONDON). Here he learns of the human ways. He discovers ice cream, melons and compassion. All this time he is taught the piano, which has been on his mind all the time. Ws learn that his mother was a great pianist. But as the story progresses, he is found by Bart and made to come back and fight for money. The film has flashbacks of the boy and his mother and they are very effective this is a well made movie and the fight scenes are well done, although a couple looks cartoonish. It was directed by LOUIS LETERRIER. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE
