16 Blocks

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

Good Performances

There are film when you seen them you can say to yourself you seen it before? But even so you seen it many times before you still enjoy it 16 Block is that movie for me. For hung over NYPD detective Jack Mosley (BRUCE WILLIS) is assigned a seemingly simple task. Petty criminal Eddie Bunker (MOS DEF) is set to testify before a grand jury at 10:00 a.m. and needs to be taken from lock-up to the courthouse, 16 blocks away. It should take Jack 15 minutes to drop him off at the courthouse and get home.

Broken down, out of shape, with a bad leg and a serious drinking problem, Jack’s role on the force is simple -- clock in, clock out and stay out of trouble in between. He’s in no mood to deal with a punk who’s been in and out of jail for more than half his life. But beneath the punk in Eddie lies a man committed to turning his life around and constantly searching for “signs” that will lead him to a brighter future.

I like the premise behind the movie it was a pretty good story. I like the idea of how he has to get 16 blocks by 10 in the morning and everyone is trying to stop them. What make the film good is the acting by the two main stars Bruce Willis and Mos Def.

Mos Def if you are wondering is a musician and well as a great actor the only thing bad I can say about him is this film is some of the screens he talk so fast you miss so of the things he says. But he does give an outstanding performance in this film. The other big actor in the film is Bruce Willis who as well did outstanding in this film I think this is one of Bruce Willis best performance.

The action scenes was very intense not once did I look at my watch. The supporting cast was pretty good in their roles as well. I am going to keep this review short if you are looking for a good film to watch this weekend check out 16 Blocks.
