American Dreamz

A Film Review By Paul Perkins

This Dream is for Everyone.

One of the most popular TV realty shows on the small screen is American Idol every week millions of people are glue to the screen to see who will be cut next. I never got into the whole American Idol scene I am a 24 and CSI fan. So of course Hollywood has to jump on the Idol bandwagon with a film that makes fun of it.

In this darkly humorous satire, this film follows the intersection of juggernaut reality show “American Dreamz” hopefuls, a clueless American President who is attempting to get back in touch with reality and a hapless terrorist charged to upend American politics by blowing up the free world’s leader on the country’s most popular television program.

Set in a world where prepackaged pop culture and government rhetoric begin to feel startlingly similar, the film questions a reality in which the President is completely ineffective while the country grows more and more obsessed with an aspirational television contest.

American Dreamz was a funny film but it the type of film that you have to have a inquire type of taste to enjoyed it. Some people may think it not funny at all. Some people told me it was stupid I do not agree with them some of the laughs is kind of dry at times but in some of the screens it was very funny. The cast was good Esp. by the Mandy Moore and Hugh Grant.

Mandy Moore play the type of character who you what to just slap in the face because of the way she acts. What made this film good was the music and the acting most of the supporting cast as well as the other main cast were good in their part. With the summer film season is about to start in two week check out this film before it get lost in the big summer blockbusters.
