American Dreamz
A Film Review By

MORE LIKE A SNOZE
"American Dreamz" is a parody of two of todays American staples. The t.v.
show American Idle and President Bush. HUGH GRANT plays a t.v. producer
and star named Martin Tweed who is planning a new season of his hit show
"American Dreamz". Gee, sound like Simon Cowell and "American Idol"? He
is down to the final three contestants. They concist of a Hasidic Jew
rapper (ADAM BUSCH, a down home Ohio blonde (MANDY MOORE), and a theatre
buff from Iraq (SAM GOLZARI) who is also secretly a terrorist. The final
show, which will present the winner will feature an appearence by the
President of the United States ( the underrated DENNIS QUAID, who is
clueless just like who?) He cannot do anything without his vice
president (WILLEM DAFOE, who is the image of Dick Cheney without the
gun.) The first lady ( MARCIA GAY-HARDEN is also clueless with a hairdo
and voice like who?) As the show is going on, Mandy Moore's character
has a boyfriend that is touted as a war hero and plans to propose to her
on the show. At the same time, the terrorist from Iraq is hooked up to
blow up himself and the whole theatre the minute he shakes hands with
the host. The whole thing gets out of hand when he changes his mind and
the bomb is found by the "war hero". The whole film is not bad, but
there are a few stupid parts that are really dark humor. The best
performances come from the likeable Grant and the talented Quaid. SEE YA
