Bobby

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
A SNOOZER
Although it is a project from the heart, the new film "Bobby" directed by
EMILIO ESTEVEZ, falls far short of it's goal. The story takes us back to
1968 and the Ambssador Hotel in Los Angeles the day that Sen. Robert Kennedy
was assasinated. We follow 16 hours of mostly fictional people and events in
the lives leading up to the tragic moment. Estevez has put together a fine
cast but gives most of them little to do. Among the cast are HARRY
BELAFONTE. DEMI MOORE, ELIJAH WOOD, LINDSEY LOHAN, SHARON STONE, ANTHONY
HOPKINS and daddy MARTIN SHEEN. The newsreel footage of R.F.K. is both
superb and sad . There are a couple of scenes that work. The assasination
as we hear Simon and Garfunkel's "Sounds of Silence" and the montage scenes
of the people who died or were wounded as you hear R.F.K.'s speech in the
background. All this is very moving, but by time you get there, you are
trying to stay awake. Sorry Emilio, but I never though you could act, now i
am not sure you should direct anymore. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE
