A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

SURVIVAL AND FRIENDSHIP
Based on a true story, "Eight Below" superbly
directed by FRANK MARSHALL (Bourne Supremacy") tells the story of
three members of a scientific group in Antarctica. Jerry Shepard
(PAUL WALKER ( Into The Blue) takes a scientist on a trek to find a
fallen meteor. The scientist (BRUCE GREENWOOD) feels the meteor will
help in the research of the beginning of time. They travel on a snow
sled pulled by eight faithful snow dogs. After a treacherous trip,
they return to find they must leave do to a huge storm that is
heading thier way. The group, which also includes Jerry's good
friend Cooper (JASON BIGGS, "American Pie") and a pretty dark
haired girl who once was Jerry's love, find that they can only carry
so much on the plane, thus they must leave the dogs behind. But
Jerry makes a promise that he will return for his fight
friends. The film goes back and forth to Jerry as he tries to find
help to keep his promise and the dogs as they go through thier
ordeal of survival. For six months they fought the weather and other
animals to find food. The ariel shots of the vast snow covered
land is very affective. You feel the loneliness oe the snow dogs.
This heartwarming film is released through Disney in association
with Spyglass films. Like last years "March Of The Penquins" it is
a real story of friendship and survival SEE YA AT THE MOVIES
