A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
A STORY OF FORGIVENESS
Fifty years ago a man named Nate Saint and four of his companions, all North American missionaries, traveled to the Ecuadorian jungles of the Amazon to teach Christianity to the natives. They flew in a small yellow plane that fasinated the natives. The main draw back here is that the tribes and the men could not communicate with each other. This resulted in all five missionaries being speared and killed by the savages. At the time, Nate's son Steve was 5 years old. His loves were his dad and mom and a small model of his dad's plane. As the years went by, Steve was haunted by the death of his father. Years later as he became an adult, he felt the need to travel to the land where his father's murder took place. He hunted for and found Mincayani, the native who stabbed his father. He tried to avenge the deed but found compassion instead. He made peace with his enemy. Today they are fast friends who travel around the country speaking of how the came to peace with a bloody past. Yes, this is a true story that was put in book form by the real Steve Saint, who is now married and has four children and nine grandchildren. CHAD ALLEN (Save Me) plays both Nate and Steve as a man. LOUIE LEONARDO (Shaft) is Mincayani and this assorbing film is based on the book written by Steve Saint. At the end credits you will see and hear from the real Steve and Mincayani. The film is told with narration from Steve and is very interesting. SEE YA AT THE MOVIES CLYDE What Did You Think About The Film E-mail us Your Comments About The Film
