Hoodwinked

A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

RED RIDING DUD

By now, everyone knows the story of little Red Riding Hood.  As she arrives at grandma's house, she finds the wolf dressed as granny. A woodsman comes in and kills the wolf.  Nice story for children.    Well now three directors no less, have given us "Hoodwinked", the story of what happened after the story ended.   They are Cory Edwards, Todd Edwards, and Tony Leech.  It is told in computer animation, ala  "Shrek", but believe me, this is no "Shrek". In this story we have investigators probing the case of what really happened between the wolf, the woodsman, granny and red.   Each character has a chance to tell their side of the story.   The wolf (voiced by PATRICK WARBURTON ) is is really an undercover reporter.  The woodsman (voiced by JIM BELUSHI)  is charged with breaking and entering,  and red (voiced by ANNE HATHAWAY) is feed up with the whole thing. Granny (voiced by GLENN CLOSE  ) is a feisty little thing who holds the title of the best cookie maker in town. All this is also surrounded by the fact that someone is stealing recipes from all the cookie and goody shops, forcing them to close.  As each one tells his or her story, we are bored with repeated scenes. We also find out that granny is into extreme sports. I guess this is to make the story hip,   The most annoying character is a little hip talking bunny (voiced by the very annoying ANDY DICK).  As i watched this movie, I could even see the kids around me getting restless.   Poor little red.   What's next, more stupid retellings of fairy tales?     SEE YA AT THE MOVIES   CLYDE   What Did You Think About The Film E-mail us Your Comments About The Film
