A Film Review By Clyde Ayles

Well Done

I went into "Medea's Family Reunion" expecting a stupid little comedy,  Boy, was I suprised. This film is a really well done drama and comedy mix. TYLER PERRY (who also wrote and directed) plays Medea, and old fiesty lady who is planning a family reunion.  We meet some of her family. But the main focus is on two sisters and their overbearing, gold digging mother. LYNN WHITFEILD gives an outstanding performance as the mother who is planning the wedding of her daughter Lisa (a very lovely ROCHELLE AYTES) to a very rich Carlos (strongly played by BLAIR UNDER WOOD).  The problem here is that Lisa doesn't love him and is tired of being beaten and slapped around by him.  Then there is the other daughter, Vanessa (LISA ARRINDELL ANDERSON, also doing a fine job) who is ignored by her mother, has a child. She meets a bus driver and falls in love, but of course he is too low on the social ladder for her mother's approval.     In the midst of all this, Medea is ordered by the courts to care for a child who is heading for trouble.   There are times when this film is very violent and very funny, but somehow they blend very well.  There is a scene near the end where the audience I saw it with cheered and applauded, and so did I.   Tyler Perry,a job well done.     SEE YA AT THE MOVIES    CLYDE
