A Film Review By Clyde Ayles
If you have been reading my reviews, you know that I
am not a big fan of the new wave of animation. Mainly due to
the fact that the storys, what there is, are very slim.
Well now "Monster House" has come to save the day. This
has a great heart warming story and some great animation.
The movie is done in the same mode as :Polar Express". Mr.
Nebbercracker (voiced by STEVE BUSCHEMI) is a cranky old man
who lives in an old scary looking house. He yells at the
kids who dare to come near the house. And the house will
gobble up anything on it's lawn. Your basketball rolled on
there? Forget about it, it's gone. During a
confrontation with old Nebbercracker, 12 year old D. J.
Walters (MITCHEL MUSSO) sends the old grump off in an
ambulance. Now D. J. is sure that the house will seek
revenge. So with the help of two friends he prepares to stop
this from happening.
The movie is filmed at a great pace.
The effects are top notch. There are some really scary
moments, some of which may be too intense for the real
little ones, My hat is off to
first time director GIL KENAN and the cast that also
includes FRED WILLARD, CATHERINE O'HARA, and KEVIN JAMES.
This is a great way to spend an afternoon. SEE YA AT

P.S. Stay through the end credits
