MAGIC IN THE HOUSE
COLIN FORTH stars as a father with
a very mischievous brood that has chased every
nanny they have had out of the house. The poor man is at his
wit's end trying to hold things together...He is a widower who is
being helped
money wise by his pompous great aunt Adelaide ( the great ANGELA
LANSBURY in her first big screen role in twenty years). The problem
here is that auntie insists he marry by in a qiven time limit or she
will cut him off and take the children. All the while there are
messages going through his
head, " what you need is Nanny Mcphee" One day Nanny M.
arrives. What a sight. She has one haggle tooth, two huge moles on
her face, and a nose like a lumpy light bulb. Ah, but she is not
your ordinary nanny. Nanny M. (played by the wonderful EMMA
THOMPSON, who also cowrote the script) is demanding, scary, and
charming at the same time. She is no Mary Poppins, that's for sure.
But she has a way of getting through to the kids. Every time they
listen to her and settle down more and more, something magical
happens to her. One day Auntie Adelaide arrives to take one of the
children away. She is not impressed by Mrs. Quickly (CELLA IMRIE)
who has agreed to marry the poor man but is tormented by the kids
instead. Adelaide leaves with one of the children, or does she? This
film, directed by KIRK JONES, is full of visual magic moments and
life.s little lessons. There are some scary parts eor the real
little kids, but all in all, you will come away with a big smile on
your face. Se Ya At The Movies Clyde
