LOUD, BUT FUN
If you have ever visited a Museum Of Natural History, you know how awsome the visit can be. You have stuffed lions, a T Rex skeleton, minuture war scenes and dozens of other great things. But what happens after the museum closes? This is the premise of this fun but often too loud film. BEN STILLER plays Larry, a responsible father who takes a job as night watchman at the museum so he can support his son Nick (JAKE CHERRY). He is replacing a trio of retireing watchman who know the secret but do not tell him. DICK VAN DYKE, MICKEY ROONEY and BILL COBB, all well known funny men play the trio, and though it is good to see them again, they are basicly wasted. The secret? The figures and stuffed animals come to life. There lies the plot. A cowboy (unbilled OWEN WILSON) is in a battle wih a roman soldier, Jarry is chased by the T rex, little soldiers are fighting a war, and Teddy Roosevelt (ROBIN WILLIAMS) rides up on his steed to help Larry. All this is fun and great to watch the effects, although we saw this in "Small Soldiers" and "Indian In The Cupboard". At times it seems a little overly long, but the kids will love it.
